In August 2011 Sandy (finally) used her RV and joined Mike's family (in a rented RV) for a trip north through Oregon, Washington, Idaho to Canada. Our initial goal was to spend time at Lake Louise and Banff, but we never got that far and saw southern British Columbia and the Olympic Peninsula in Washington instead. A wonderful trip!

Metaline, WA
We crossed the Pend Oreille River at Metaline. The view from the bridge up the northwestern branch of the river was so beautiful that Mandy and Sandy took another pass to get a proper picture. The river was squeezed between two steep rock cliffs and ran over rapids until it opened up again to the north. Mike and Angie were waiting a few miles north at another bridge. There was a little road leading up to the Box Canyon Reservoir, one of the towns Kevin Costner visited in The Postman. So, Mike, Angie, Tom and Mandy hiked 2 miles up the road to check it out while the rest remained below. When they returned, they took a swim in the pristine Crescent Lake.
