In August 2011 Sandy (finally) used her RV and joined Mike's family (in a rented RV) for a trip north through Oregon, Washington, Idaho to Canada. Our initial goal was to spend time at Lake Louise and Banff, but we never got that far and saw southern British Columbia and the Olympic Peninsula in Washington instead. A wonderful trip!

Spirit Lake
We left Beauty Creek after a leisurely picnic breakfast at out makeshift campsite and headed north. We decided not to go to Lake Louise and Banff after all, but to cross into Canada and then travel west across the southern-most edge on Hwy 3 toward Vancouver. If all went well, we would visit the Olympic National Forest and the town of Forks (made famous by the Twilight series).
Our first stop was 10 or 15 miles north of Coeur d'Alene on Hwy 41 at Spirit Lake.It is a lovely little lake with sparkling water, little islands of lily pads, a gravel beach and several docks for launching boats and people.Every one went in the chilly but wonderful water except Charlotte (who was asleep) and Ian who was doing whatever Ian does.
